This conference is targeted to all physicians and providers interested in learning about the emerging domains where Information Technology affects physician practices. Topics include a session on office electronic medical records, office order entry, and use of the Internet for patient communication, physician consultations, medical information, and practice management. One session will address information systems that improve patient safety and decrease medical errors. The conference will also provide tools and strategies to help transform healthcare operations, maintain HIPAA compliance, and simplify claims and prescription and referral processes. LSU/Ochsner Urology Visiting Professorship

This conference is designed for practicing urologists and urology residents. Presentations will focus on laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques in urology. The applications of these techniques will be reviewed in areas of: pediatric urology, urologic oncology, BPH, female urology, and stone disease. This conference should provide attendees with new perspectives for the application of minimally invasive techniques in their practice. Participants will be able to view live minimally invasive surgical techniques, and interactive panel discussions will allow for more interactive dialogue between the attendees and the faculty. The LSU/Ochsner Urology Residency Training Program is designed to provide balanced education in cognition, attitudes, and skills, which will be necessary for successful urologic practice. In the interest of continuing education, the conference will be conducted in an audience format in a classroom style setting.

8th Annual Patrick Hanley Colorectal Surgery Symposium: Pathology, Radiology, Physiological Testing

This course is a comprehensive review of Colorectal Pathology, Radiology, and Physiological Testing for surgeons, gastroenterologists, and colorectal specialists. Using extensive audiovisual aids, the faculty will review major and significant colorectal disease processes to strengthen the participants' knowledge for clinical practice of colorectal surgery. The course will be conducted in classroom style and its size will be limited to maximize the educational opportunity of every participant. A course video will be available to course participants. The Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation designates this continuing medical education activity for a maximum of 8 credit hours in Category 1 towards the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
