Iliac Artery-Uretero-Colonic Fistula Presenting as Severe Gastrointestinal Hemorrhage and Hematuria: A Case Report and Review of the Literature
2015, Annals of Vascular SurgeryCitation Excerpt :Although aortoenteric fistulas most commonly involve the small bowel, iliac artery-enteric fistulas are more likely to involve the colon. Consequently, patients typically present with lower-gastrointestinal hemorrhage.1–4,7–27,30–38 In addition, hypovolemic shock, abdominal pain, and sepsis are common findings associated with this type of AEF.1,3,8–20,23,24,31,32,35,38
Arteriocolic fistulae due to a stab wound: A rare cause of lethal lower gastrointestinal bleeding
2007, Journal of Forensic and Legal MedicineCitation Excerpt :Extensive review of the literature only showed a similar single case report of post trauma enterovascular fistulae associated with a stab wound, which did not involve colon or iliac artery (e.g. small bowel and vena cava). Aortocolic, iliocolic or enterovascular fistulaes are rarely described in the literature,1–15 but can cause life-threatening haemorrhage. Although most arterioenteric fistulaee involve the duodenum, they can occur at any section along the gastrointestinal tract, whereas those in the lower tract may present with less classic symptoms than arterioduodenal fistulae.
