The Ochsner Alumni Association presented awards for the top 3 Research Day abstracts authored by residents or fellows. The winners received certificates and cash awards at the annual alumni banquet and were recognized at the Research Day evening poster viewing and reception.
System Nursing Professional Development and Research presented the Nursing Research Award in 2013. The award is a rotating plaque that is engraved each year with the winner's name. Pharmacy presented an inaugural research award in 2013, and the prizes available to The University of Queensland, Ochsner Clinical Schools students were expanded to include first, second, and third place.

The Ochsner Alumni Association Resident Research Award for 1st Place was presented to Ryan Griffin, MD for Long-Term Effects of the Diabetes Boot Camp on Measures of Diabetic Care.
The Ochsner Alumni Association Resident Research Award for 2nd Place was presented to Todd Rosenthal, MD for Baseline T-Peak to T-End Interval Independently Predicts Both Ventricular Tachyarrhythmia and Death in Patients With Systolic Dysfunction: Extended Follow-up.
The Ochsner Alumni Association Resident Research Award for 3rd Place was presented to Sharon Ing, MD for Elevated Follicular Helper T Cells in Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis Correlated to Disease Activity and Autoantibody Production.
System Nursing Professional Development and Research presented its award to Fiona Winterbottom, MSN, APRN, ACNS-BC, CCRN for Exploring the Role of Technology in Monitoring Compliance with the Head-of-Bed Component of the Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia Bundle.
