Women's Services is one of Ochsner Health System's Destination Centers of Excellence, and the relocation of obstetric, gynecologic, and neonatal services from the campus on Jefferson Highway to Ochsner Baptist Hospital in New Orleans was a strategic and critical move to support program growth. The staff of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has completed the first full year at the newly renovated location in Uptown New Orleans. During this transition year, we continued to provide excellent obstetric and gynecologic care and focused on expanding our critical care capabilities in obstetrics.

Our gynecologic surgeons bring minimally invasive innovative approaches to the treatment of complex gynecologic conditions that previously required large abdominal incisions and prolonged hospital stays. Our specialized gynecologic care areas have grown, matured, and improved. Ochsner's gynecologic oncologists provide comprehensive care to patients with cancer thanks to the development of the multidisciplinary Gayle and Tom Benson Cancer Center.

The maternal fetal medicine team is dedicated to the management of all aspects of pregnancy and has become a major referral center for the Gulf South region. In combination with our Level III Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, we are able to care for patients with extremely complicated antenatal issues to ensure healthy babies and healthy moms.

Our highly skilled surgeons perform life-changing in utero fetal surgery. This year, we will expand this service to include in utero laser therapy for twins affected by the twin-twin transfusion syndrome. Our multidisciplinary critical care team has cared for obstetric patients with severe infections, heart disease, and life-threatening hemorrhagic situations.

In addition, we have expanded our area of service to the Gulf Coast by providing a clinic and telemedicine site in Biloxi, MS.

We are proud that Healthgrades has ranked our department among the top 5% in the nation for women's health 3 years in a row and that U.S. News and World Report recognized us as “High Performing” in gynecology, but we continuously work to improve our outcomes, our patient satisfaction, and the services we provide to our partners and collaborators.
