Pericardial defect with atrial herniation
2003, Anales de PediatriaFetal constrictive pericardial defect with pulmonary capillary hemangiomatosis
2002, Journal of Pediatric SurgeryCitation Excerpt :More recently, direct thoracoscopic closure of a partial defect was performed successfully in a 15-year old child.11 In a 44-year-old patient who presented with atypical chest pain, video-assisted thoracoscopic resection of the pericardium was performed and reduced the herniated left ventricle and atrial appendage.12 This defect usually is identified incidentally in infancy at the time of surgery for another cardiac defect or during assessment of atypical chest pain in adults.
Congenital pericardial defect and concomitant coronary artery disease
2001, Annals of Thoracic SurgeryCongenital foramen of the left pericardium
2000, Annals of Thoracic SurgeryCitation Excerpt :Today, two-dimensional echocardiography, contrast-enhanced computer assisted tomography (CT), transesophageal echocardiography, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are most often employed [22, 34, 39]. Finally, thoracoscopy has been used to confirm the diagnosis after failure of CT and MRI to do so [38]. Thirty-four patients had surgery and, in all but 4, the diagnosis was suspected beforehand [12, 24–26].
