Diana Hamer, PhD received her doctorate in environmental health sciences from Tulane University and a master of science degree in molecular biology from Erasmus MC. She held the position of academic research director at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for 6 years. In this role, she fostered and developed scholarly activity for the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Internal Medicine Residency Program and supervised residents’ research projects. Diana’s research interests focus on population health and healthcare access and utilization. At Our Lady of the Lake, Diana developed and supported research centered on utilizing patient population data and geographic information systems to address healthcare challenges encountered in most urban, underserved communities in the United States.
Currently, Diana is the Director for Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Recovery at the National Network of Public Health Institutes where she oversees the continued growth of projects related to building public health capacity for all hazard disaster response, emergent and infectious pathogens, and climate and health issues at the state and local level.
